The national picture
The UAE Energy Strategy 2050, updated in 2023, sets a target of 32% clean energy generation by 2030 and net zero across the energy and water sectors by 2050. It commits between AED 150 and 200 billion of investment by 2030 and aims to triple renewable capacity over that period. The UAE was the first country in the region to commit to net zero.
Underneath that national framework, each emirate operates independently. This is the single most important thing to understand about building solar here: there is no UAE-wide application process.

These differences are not cosmetic. DEWA credits carry forward indefinitely; EtihadWE credits expire at the end of the calendar year. That single distinction changes the optimal system size for an identical building in Dubai versus Ras Al Khaimah. A contractor who applies one emirate's assumptions to another will oversize or undersize the system.

Utility-scale and beyond
The UAE hosts some of the largest and lowest-cost solar assets in the world. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai continues to expand, with later phases pairing gigawatt-scale PV with very large battery storage, and Al Dhafra in Abu Dhabi operates at 2 GW on a single site.
Alongside solar EPC we develop battery storage, EV charging infrastructure, green hydrogen, carbon capture and geothermal. Our group's drilling heritage, dating to 1988, is what makes geothermal and CO2 storage a natural extension rather than a new departure.
Engineering standards
Our designs and performance calculations follow IEC 61215 and 61730 for module qualification, IEC 62109 for inverter safety, IEC 62933 for battery energy storage, NFPA 855 for storage fire safety, IEEE 1547 for grid interconnection and IEC 61724 for performance methodology. Final drawings are certified by licensed engineers and approved by the relevant authority during permitting.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a single solar approval process across the UAE?
No. Each emirate has its own utility and its own process. Dubai runs through DEWA's Shams Dubai programme, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain through ADDC and AADC under the Department of Energy framework, Sharjah through SEWA, and the northern emirates through EtihadWE's Distributed Solar System programme.

Do solar credits work the same way in every emirate?
No. DEWA credits under Shams Dubai carry forward, while EtihadWE credits under the DSS programme are valid within the same calendar year only. This affects how a system should be sized for the same building in different emirates.
What size projects do you deliver?
From 5 kWp residential rooftops through to utility-scale plants of 20 to 200 MWp, and battery storage from 1 MWh commercial systems to 500 MWh grid-scale installations.
